About Neurofeedback
Are you looking for a non-drug solution to ADHD/ADD, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, depression, migraines, autism spectrum disorders, or any other issue that is related to “brain wiring?”
Would you prefer not to take medication?
Are you taking medication but still not getting full symptom relief?
Do you feel frustrated and worried because attentional problems, anxiety, depression, impulsivity, or other “brain wiring” issues get in the way of academic success, work performance, relationship stability, or overall happiness?
Do you wish your brain would just do what you want it to do?
In recent years psychologists and physicians have discovered that a certain type of biofeedback- called neurofeedback or EEG Biofeedback- is even better than the proverbial “brain transplant.” Neurofeedback is a non-invasive computer-based procedure that helps optimize brain wave functioning. It is like a “workout” for your brain, which strengthens the brain’s ability to regulate emotions, recover from stress and focus in a healthy way.
The most comprehensive approach to selecting brain training protocols is to first conduct a diagnostic procedure. I do this right in my office, and it is noninvasive and pain-free. Electrodes are placed on 6 different points of the scalp. These electrodes measure and monitor “real-time” brain activity. While this may sound overwhelming, most clients find it rather “cool.” The electrodes measure brain wave activity to determine which brain areas are overactive, which are underactive, and which have “connectivity” problems (yes, like a computer that can’t function right!).
Once the EEG has located the dysregulated areas of the brain, I know which parts need fine-tuning, and subsequent sessions can retrain the brain waves in the affected areas to promote optimal functioning. For example, most people with attention, organization, and time management problems have too many slow waves (under function) in the prefrontal cortex, which is the front area of the brain. Anxiety symptoms are usually related to overactive functioning and high beta frequencies in “worry centers” of the brain, like the cingulate gyrus. Slow processing speeds/learning disabilities have a few different origins, including slow brain waves in processing centers and connectivity problems (so different parts of the brain take longer to communicate information to each other). And the list goes on in terms of what can be found…
Neurofeedback is the most cutting-edge type of treatment available for ADHD, anxiety, depression, migraine headaches, and many other issues because it truly solves core problems in brain functioning. Most other treatments, including medication, just compensate for the problem in a more Band-Aid-like approach. Neurofeedback, on the other hand, actually promotes permanent healing. Once new brain patterns are learned, research shows they never really go away!
Many studies support the use of neurofeedback and a growing number of physicians are raving about its success. Nonetheless, many medical and mental health providers are not aware that it even exists, or believe it is primarily “experimental.” In fact, since 2013 the American Academy of Pediatrics’ gold standard treatment planning tool, “Practice Wise” has categorized neurofeedback as a Level 1, research-supported intervention on the same tier as medication for AD/HD. Unfortunately, many otherwise excellent pediatricians are not appraised of this. I appreciate traditional approaches but believe strongly in the value of teaching the brain to regulate itself to whatever degree possible.
To provide top-notch quality of service I create 100% customized treatment plans with individualized protocols. I utilize the powerful Nexus 10 system. It is my greatest pleasure to watch people flourish with healthier, more balanced brains.
Neurofeedback is safe and effective for virtually any age.
While neurofeedback is not helpful to everyone (unfortunately nothing is), it boasts a 75-85% success rate in significantly reducing symptoms for most people. That means that most clients experience at least moderate, noticeable relief! This is a better success rate than many medications and has the benefit of being free of long term side-effects. Neurofeedback can be used alongside natural supplements or medication for those who are already taking them or have more severe difficulties.
I invite you to give me a call and see whether neurofeedback can be of help to you and your loved ones!

Expert Opinions on Neurofeedback (also called EEG Biofeedback)
"The literature, which lacks any negative study of substance, suggests that EEG biofeedback therapy should play a major therapeutic role in many difficult areas. In my opinion, if any medication had demonstrated such a wide spectrum of efficacy, it would be universally accepted and widely used (Clinical Electroencephalography, 2000)."
Frank Duffy, MD, Neurologist, Head of the Neuroimaging Department and of Neuroimaging Research at Boston's Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School Professor
"In my 38 years of practice, I have never seen any treatment that comes close to producing the results that Neurofeedback offers... I have seen results achieved in days and weeks that previously took months and years to achieve, using the best methods available to us."
Jack Woodward, MD, Board Certified Psychiatrist
"EEG biofeedback meets the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry criteria for a clinical guideline for the treatment of ADHD, seizure disorders, anxiety (OCD, GAD, PTSD, phobias), depression, reading disabilities, and addiction disorders. This suggests that EEG biofeedback should always be considered as an intervention for these disorders by the clinician. "
Conclusions in a Special Issue of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Clinics of North America devoted to recent advances in brain function interventions
"In my experience with EEG Biofeedback and ADD, many people are able to improve their reading skills and decrease their need for medication. Also, EEG biofeedback has helped to decrease impulsivity and aggressiveness. It is a powerful tool...( Change Your Brain Change Your Life, pp.143-144): "
Daniel Amen, MD, Noted researcher, and author, ADD specialist
"Among the newer approaches to managing ADD, the most exciting is a learning process called neurofeedback. It empowers a person to shift the way he pays attention. After more than twenty-five years of research in university labs, neurofeedback has become more widely available. This is a pleasing development because neurofeedback has no negative side effects (The ADD Book, p. 205)."
